Background: Yep, inspired by those activity pages for kids.

I have to admit, I was particularly skeptical that the University's attempts at changing the alcohol policy would make any difference. People wanted to drink and party, and they would find a way to make it happen.

Strangely enough, their changes were serious enough to put a stranglehold on the party scene at Duke. "Kegs" were essentially banned. Groups had to hire a University-approved bartender (who would card) and buy beer from the University for open parties. Of course, the University really didn't train anybody, so bartenders were hard to come by, and keg beer cost $30 more from the University than from off-campus. Most groups ended up either having "closed" parties or organizing a single "big" party for the semester. Needless to say, it resulted in a lot less partying.

One bright side: I got a lot more sleep on Saturday nights than I did before.
